Chinese spoiling rural Ethiopia

This factory pollutes many rural villages in Ethiopia

Among the pretty dirty things about the Chinese is their selfish nature to spoil one’s land and environment. Look what is

foggy image caused by the smoke

happening in rural Ethiopia. This is a huge cement factory some 60 km from Addis Ababa. The rural community inhales this nasty and dangerous smoke everyday nearly 16 hours. The smoke carries very dangerous chemical which can cause respiratory diseases. The local communities have been complaining for a long time to the local government. However, their complaints continue falling on deaf ears of the government officials.

Chinese, please pack and go!!!

My Sister my sister

My sister knows when I’m mad
My sister helps me when I’m sad
My sister is so smart
My sister has my heart

My sister I wish you well
My sister yes I can tell
My sister asked if I lied
My sister knows if I’ve cried
My sister has moved away
My sister is in my heart to and will always stay

Why I Love sunset

Just Beyond The Sunset

Just beyond the sunset
Someone waits for me
Just beyond the sunset
Lies my destiny

Just beyond the sunset
Lies a home for me
Where the world is peaceful
Like a paradise should be
Just beyond the sunset
Someday is where you’ll find me

Support me to realize my dream

I sleep in this small garden near Addis Ababa stadium

“Throw this boy out of my home. He has got leprosy and I don’t want to be despised!” I heard my grandfather shouting to my grandma one morning. I realized that he was talking about me.

My name is Elias Mamuye. I am a street boy in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. I was born to a family of six in a small village 140 kms east of Addis Ababa in 1999. I lost my lovely mother and father to leprosy five years before. Following their death, I moved to live with my grandparents when I was seven. They were very nice to me till something happened to me six months ago. I got painless sores on my fingers, toes and tips of my ears. It was the leprosy I got from my mother.

Leprosy stigma is at its worst state in my community. Because of this my grandparents threw me out of their house. With the support of my teachers I got medications from Leprosy Hospital in Addis Ababa. I presently live on the street of Addis Ababa. Street life is very difficult. What is most difficult is sex abusing. Abusers never let me sleep peacefully at night.

I dropped out of school from sixth grade. I have a dream of continuing my education and wish to be a doctor, so that I can treat people who suffer from leprosy and leprosy stigma.

I don’t put too much pressure on someone who wishes to support me. Just support me to cover stationery, uniform and annual school fees. I believe I can learn while living on street.

Congratulations Dereje!

Open cabbage market at Gurage Area

This open market is from Southern Ethiopia, Gurage area. As it is summer season cabbage is ample. Almost everyone sells the cabbage!

Can you see any male in this picture!  Perhaps it is a female-only market?
